Tecplot Add-on: FLOW-3D Water Depth Calculation

This user-contributed add-on is unsupported. Please use forums for questions and comments.

(Please let jim know if you have an add-on you'd like to share or link to.)

FLOW3D WaterDepthCalculation is used in conjunction with water depth plot to calculate and export depth-averaged data based on Flow 3D data loaded in Tecplot. The two dimensional outputs for depth-averaged data include: Coordinate X and Y, Bathymetry, Water Depth, Water Level, Averaged Velocity Component U and V, and Velocity Magnitude.

  • Compatible with: Tecplot 360 2006 R2, Tecplot 360 2008 -- Windows only

Installation

  1. Download and extract WaterDepthCalculation.zip.
  2. Copy the files to the Tecplot directory.
    Tecplot 360 2006 R2:
    1. copy FLOW3D_WaterDepthCalculation.dll to %TEC360HOME%\bin (i.e. C:\Program Files\Tecplot\Tec360\bin).
    2. copy Help for Flow3D Water Depth Calculation.html and its subdirectory to %TEC360HOME%\help
    Tecplot 360 2008 :
    1. copy FLOW3D_WaterDepthCalculation.dll to %TEC_360_2008%\bin (i.e. C:\Program Files\Tecplot\Tec360 2008\bin).
    2. copy Help for Flow3D Water Depth Calculation.html and its subdirectory to %TEC_360_2008%\help
  3. Add the following line to the "tecplot.add" file in the Tecplot home directory:

    $!LoadAddon "FLOW3D_WaterDepthCalculation"

  4. Launch Tecplot;

  5. In the Tools menu, you will see a new command optoin, FLOW3D Water Depth Calculation:

How to Use

  1. Load Flow 3D Data first by selection of File → Load Data File (s) → Flow 3D Loader.
  2. Select ToolsFLOW3D-Water Depth Calculation and a user interface will show up:
  3. Click button Read Dataset and Zone(s) information and variable(s) information will appear.
  4. Select zones that need to be analyzed from the list of Zones
  5. Click button Start Calculating to calculate and export depth-averaged data.
  6. Click button Time Averaged to calculate and export time averaged and depth-averaged data.
