Re: Export matrix with Values from Contour Plot (as *.txt)

Hi, It seems as though the CSV exporter should do the trick. The workflow is as follows: Scripting-->Quick Macros... enter "excsv" into the text box (no quotation marks) you have now loaded the csv exporter Tools-->Write Data As Formatted Text choose the appropriate options, specifically, ...

Re: How to update individual nodes?

Hi Jing, I am glad to see that you are making use of data sharing in your example; however, I don't think that it is possible to do exactly what you request in Tecplot currently. I am sure this is a suggestion that could be made for the developers at Tecplot. Data sharing works on a variable-by-vari...

Re: AMRCALW with TECPLOT format

Hi, After quickly browsing through the AMRCLAW documentation, it appears as though you have some work to do in order to output things in Tecplot format. The actual strategy you should pursue probably depends on the problem you are trying to solve. Fundamentally, you are going to need to output a fil...

Re: Number of streamtraces per rake

Hi, Is it possible that one of your rakes attempts to seed streamtraces outside of the fluid domain? This might explain what you are seeing, although I don't know whether you are seeding these streamtraces interactively or through a macro. On the whole, this sounds like an issue which should be sent...

Re: Splitting zone based on X coordinate

Hi, The ease of this task depends on the nature of your data. If you have IJK ordered data, then this is probably as simple as extracting a subzone at the constant I (or J or K) which corresponds to this face. For an example of how this works, you can do the following: 1. Start with a new layout 2. ...

Re: Getting data from line in 3D model and display as XY or

Hi, The second option seems reasonable. The method for doing this is pretty simple. First data->create zone... and create a zone with the number of points you desire (don't worry about the xmin and xmax values, we will adjust these manually later). Second data->alter->specify equations... (replace t...

Re: Uniformity Index

Hi, Without the exact structure of your data set, it is hard to give specific advice. However, it seems to me that some of the parameters are easily calculated. The mean velocity is either known a priori or can be calculated by integrating over the data using the CFD analyzers "Perform Integrat...

Re: Define Cell –Centered Ordered Data

Hi Dave, Defining cell centered variables is not too difficult in Tecplot. By default, Tecplot assumes that values are located at the nodes, but you can tell Tecplot which variables are cell centered in the following manner. Note that you must now use BLOCK ordering for your data. TITLE = "Exam...

Re: Lift and drag over airfoil

Hi,

You need to define an additional zone which is the boundary of the airfoil. Then you integrate over this zone to get forces and moments.

Re: Lift and drag over airfoil

Hi, If I remember the CFD analyzer correctly (and it has been a few years since I really used it), the forces and moments are calculated on a surface by considering the fluid flow in the adjacent regions of space. This means that in a 2D plot, the forces and moments are integrated over a line (close...

Re: Simple 3D Volume plot - HELP

Hi David, You did a decent job of creating the data file; however, Tecplot thinks that your zone is one dimensional (i.e. each point connects with the one before it and the one after it). Even though you display it in three dimensions, the data is interpreted as a line traversing through 3D. This ex...

Re: FEPolyhedron Mesh Triangles??

Hi, In light of the fact that your volume data seems to be showing up appropriately, I think that your data file has the right format. Do you have the slice mesh layer turned on? If so, that would explain these triangles. I loaded your data file with Tecplot 360 2011. I clearly saw that the nature o...

Re: FEPolyhedron Mesh Triangles??

Hi,

This does not sound like the behavior I would expect from Tecplot. Can you post an image showing this problem (on a simple/toy data set would be great)?

Re: Trouble loading add on extprec

Hi, The first thing to check is that you have the correct version of the add-on for your version of Tecplot. Assuming that you have downloaded the tar file containing the addon libraries ( http://tecplottalk.com/addons/ExtPrec/r2/extprec.tar ), then there are many versions of the addon. To figure ou...

Re: Polyhedral Data Format

Hi, I will see if I can help. Your problem appears to be that in the first data file you included, your first zone has two elements, but one of them is unconnected. Every face has element 1 as a right element and either 0 or negative values for the left element (indicating either external or externa...
