Can the date format as given in &(date) be changed to that of ISO 8601?

Hi, All:

The date format as given in &(date) is like 17 Jun 2018 (date, month, year in that order).

Is there are way to make it like 2018-06-17, or the ISO 8601 format?

Thank you,

Roland

How to let Tecplot 360 EX show only one kind of files?

Hi, All: I am using Tecplot 360 EX 2017 R2 on a macOS High Sierra V10.13.4. When I need to open a LAY file, load a DAT file, or run an MCR file, all kinds of files show up in the file list window. Although each file of the kind I need are preceded with a highlighted Tecplot logo, the number of files...

Re: How to let Tecplot 360 EX 2017 R2 work in current directory in an X-windown?

Summary of Recent Experiences: 1.) Figured out that if you start Tecplot 360 EX 2017 R2 in current working directory (CWD) followed by a LAY file or a DAT file in that directory in the following manner % tec360 my_layout.lay [or, my_data.dat] Tecplot will point to CWD in the current session. 2.) Bas...

How to let Tecplot 360 EX 2017 R2 work in current directory in an X-windown?

Hi, All: I have been using Tecplot 360 2012 R1 in an X-window on a MacOS machine---until now. This is how I work in an X-window: I first go to the directory where my data files, lay files, etc. are located, and start Tecplot using a line command right there; when I need to open a LAY file, or load a...

Re: Tecplot 360 Problem with Subscripts, etc.

Now my Tecplot is upgraded to Tecplot 360 EX 2015 R2. How can I make ^ (for superscript), _ (for subscript), ` (for Greek letter), and ~ (for math) in my old LAY files work? Any solution? Thank you, Roland Roland: Look Under File -> Preferences -> Miscellaneous and tick the "Allow Old Text Form...

Question of layout file of contours with triangulation involved

Hi, All: When I have an ordinary 2D data file (X-Y), my_2D.dat, and make a plot and save the layout file as my_2D.lay, I can change the content of my_2D.dat and reopen the same layout file, my_2D.lay, to make a new plot, which is quite easy. However, when I need to make a 2D contour plot, like a tem...

Re: Single x-y data with two y-axes for different scales

This indeed can be done! It will be frustrating, however, to manually tweak the scale and range of the 2nd axis so that the 2nd curve will exactly overlap the 1st one. You can instead create 2 sets of CUSTOMLABLES, and make the 2 sets match by pairs. Then apply 1 set to the 1st curve, and another se...

Layout File Problem with TEXT and GEOMETRY Data Files

Hi, All: When you load a data file with numerical values, such as X values vs. Y values in 2 columns saved in a file named myXvsY.dat, and save a LAY file (i.e., LAYOUT file), the file name myXvsY.dat is saved in the LAY file, but not the X values and Y values. This is a good feature, because if you...

How to get the analytical expression of a curve-fitting?

Hi, All: Could anyone tell how to extract the analytical expression from a curve-fitting? For instance, I fit a dataset to a polynomial of order 3. I can see the curve on the screen, but I also would like to know the values of a0, a1, a2 and a3 in the expression y = a0 + a1*x + a2*x^2 + a3*x^3. How ...

Re: Vectors in Polar Coordinate System?

After some trying, I found that this can be done by creating a new frame and transforming coordinates. But this is a painful process, and odd problems occur. One instance is that when you use CUSTOMLABELS for THETA only, the R axis also uses it; when you reset the R labels back to INTEGER, the THETA...

Vectors in Polar Coordinate System?

Hello, All: I am plotting some data in the POLAR COORDINATE system. And I also need to plot some arrows with specified origins, lengths and directions. I know that this can be done easily as VECTORS in the X-Y coordinate system, and I am wondering if this can be done in the POLAR COORDINATE system. ...

Re: Overlaying multiple data files in 3D

It looks to me that your two files have different numbers of columns of data, which can be the problem. Try to make both files have the same number of columns (same number of VARIABLES).

Re: Add Observation Point to my Plt files

I am a user of Tecplot 360. Not sure what your question exactly is, but I think you can create a separate ZONE for your observation points and arrange them in the same format as your simulation results. This way, you can select different SYMBOLS, SCATTERS or LINES for your observation points.

Customlabel for value 0?

Hi, Everyone: I have angle values 0, 1, 2, 3, ..., 90 degrees in a polar coordinate system, and I created 91 different labels, and the first label is intended for 0 degrees, but it actually goes to 1 degree. Is there a way to associate the first label to value 0? Or do I have to manually put a label...

I tried "\095" and it appears to work so far. But this is a bit nonsensical.
