License terms for the tecio library?

Postby jprenaud » Thu Dec 21, 2006 10:52 am

Under which license is the tecio library available?

In particular, can the library be distributed with another piece of software to allow export to binary Tecplot format?

The code I work on can export in binary and ASCII Tecplot format (the ASCII version is for customers who don't have Tecplot). We currently build two versions, where binary export is activated or not. In any case, the user has to provide his own tecio.a (no static linking).

If it is fine to distribute the library, we would just bundle it or statically link to it.

Yes! We encourage this :-) Here's what the license agreement says:
Utilities/Other Executables. [...] Licensee is permitted to redistribute the included TECIO libraries and the PREPLOT executable for the sole purpose of generating binary files compatible with the Software.

The TECIO source is here. We also include the pre-compiled libraries here. Generally speaking, you should use the ones on the web site.

I'm sorry for reviving this old thread.
Is the information above still correct?
Unfortunately, the tar-file containing the source code does not contain any licence anymore.
If we would like to redistribute TecIO as a binary, which licence should we include?

Unfortunately the source code for TecIO does not contain any license anymore.
How is TecIO licensed nowadays?

Thanks in advance,

Thomas
